SUZANNE MAGASSY
After
studying carillon with John Gordon in Canberra, Australia, Suzanne became an
Assistant Carillonist in 1980 and has presented recitals locally and
internationally over the past two decades. She has also studied with
Milford Myhre in Florida and at the Netherlands Carillon Summer School. In 1997,
at the University of Kansas, she became the first non-American to achieve the
requirements for Carillonneur Member status in the Guild of Carillonneurs of
North America (GCNA). She is currently Trinity College’s Visiting
International Carillonneur.
Suzanne is the first Australian to perform at a GCNA Congress (2000 Pennsylvania) as a "featured artist." She has also played at Carillon Festivals in Florida and Dijon, France, and at World Carillon Federation Congresses in The Netherlands, France, Germany, and Ireland.
She received her musical training at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Teachers' College in Piano and related studies, after which she taught at the high school and college level. Her current work and interests are with disabled students.
