- Traditional carillon of 50 bells with pitch of heaviest bell an A# in
the middle octave. (Transposition is up one octave). There is
one missing bass semitone and no practice console.
- Original carillon installed in 1970 (with 24 bells) and expanded in
1985. Named in the honor of Dr. Gordon Stearns, Sr., who served as
organist and choirmaster at First Church for many years.
- Has the distinction of being the only carillon in North America with
all bells cast by Whitechapel Foundry in London, England. Also has
the distinction of being the lightest in Connecticut with the bourdon bell
weighing in at only 870 pounds.

- Traditional carillon of 55 bells with pitch of heaviest bell a C
in the middle octave. (Transposition is nil, concert pitch).
There is one missing bass semitone and an identical practice console.
The bourdon bell weighs 4,730 lbs.
- The whole instrument was installed in 1986 with bells made by Petit &
Fritsen of the Netherlands, but the instrument was designed, built and
installed by the I.T.Verdin Company of Cincinnati, Ohio.
